What we do
Crafting Democratic Futures – New London partners Connecticut College and New London community members to collect and communicate narratives about race. We hope to empower both young and older New London residents not only to tell their personal stories, but to become skilled documenters of these stories that depict struggle and triumph in the face of discrimination, prejudice, and segregation. We seek to communicate these stories to inform school curricula and reparative civic action.

The Center for Social Solutions (CSS) fosters research and collaborations that diagnose and solve critical social problems. We believe these solutions rely on diverse perspectives that account for the multi-faceted root causes of these issues. Our four founding initiatives—diversity, slavery, water equity, and the future of work—approach different aspects of the equality that we believe is necessary to advance as a prosperous democratic society.
